Indeed, all movies do not meet our expectations. There have been times filmmakers have ruined great movie ideas. Don’t believe us? It is effortless to process a powerful idea of a movie into the audience’s mind that it attracts a good crowd. But then there are times filmmakers have ruined great movie ideas.
Check out the list of times filmmakers have ruined great movie ideas:
Downsizing was portrayed to be a sci-fi masterpiece
A movie which had the capability of providing an unusual solution for human population failed to deliver a strong message. It was about body shrinking technology and how a couple decides to go for it in favor of reducing the population problem. But the wife changes her mind after the husband goes through all the procedure. Unfortunately, only the trailer and the initial part seemed to provide a good base. Later on, the movie started losing its essence, and it appeared that the plot is trying to put anything to get to the end of the film.
In Time was proposed to be the greatest dystopia of the modern world
Someone who co-produced and wrote The Truman Show is expected to give another hit, right? The movie was supposed to be a dystopia where time replaces money as a currency. Human stops aging at 25 and if they do not earn, steal or lend time, they are ought to die. Doesn’t it sound promising? But sadly, the movie failed to explain and answer a lot of questions. The audience is unable to understand that why can people not save time and what do they do before they were 25.
Suicide Squad was supposed to be cooler than the whole Marvel team
This supposed to be a great hit seemed to crush audience expectations to the worst. There are no plot twists, no psychological impacts and there are so many characters that we fail to remember all of them.
Awake was planned to shock its audience
A perfect example of how a different character takes the role of the main character and the plot drastically shifts. Imagine a storyline of aesthetically aware people who are aware of every incision and all the pain they are going through. Doesn’t it give you goosebumps? But sadly, the movie is nowhere around this plot.
The Dark Tower universe was plotted to be as high as Game of Thrones
A good sci-fi which is based on Stephen King’s book failed severely. Reviews speak that the movie makers forgot to show one half of the film. Can you imagine a modern blockbuster lasting only for 90 minutes? Well, this movie was. An unanswered conclusion gave it a worse review.
Allied was planned to be as vivid ad Mr. & Mrs. Smith
We expected it to be a beautiful spy drama where the protagonists fall in love and ultimately get married. But the plot twists happen when the husband finds that the wife has hidden her real identity and gives her 72 hours to prove herself guilty. But what did we get? Nothing more than the best costumes for an Oscar nomination. The movie was only a ridiculous melodrama with lots of flaws and illogical actions.
Jupiter Ascending was supposed to be a good mix of The Matrix and Star Wars
This was expected to be a great space fantasy, but it turned out to be a comic version of Twilight. The authors have failed to link small details, and all it seems is a puzzle.
Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice was thought to be a vivid film by DC
We do not find a logical reason as to why a Batman hates Superman and how and why are their specific actions. The only bright hero in the whole movie is the Superwoman.
Ocean’s Eight was to be a continuation of the witty franchise
We got a female version of a criminal franchise which is full of stereotypes and unmotivated characters. The audience expected it to be a continuation of a great film by Steven Soderbergh where the Ocean’s sisters assemble to steal a necklace from Met Gala.
The Matrix Revolutions and The Matrix Reloaded was planned to make a film revolution
The audience expected these to be science fiction, but both the movies fail to deliver a clear idea of what is to be given to the audience. Also, the endings are very boring where people are pleased to be alive, and the AI also continues to consume the energy of the matrix prisoners.
